I am new to herbalism and let me tell you why this book is changing my mind so far.
I currently work in the medical industry and ugh. Everything is a scam. I see patients slowly getting worse due to the medications they take recommended by doctors. Im still young and even though I know we all are going to get to a certain age someday, I don’t want to be living like that at all. Taking from 10 to more pills a day to survive is a big no no for me. So, I went on YouTube and I saw a woman that does herbalism’s for a living and she recommended this book so I went ahead and bought it.
A LIFE CHANGING BOOK!!!
English isn’t my first language so there are some words that I have to translate because I never heard of but apart from that, this is amazing. I love that it has a lot of pictures (I am a visual learner), the book itself feels magical, I feel like every page is an eye opening way to encourage yourself to have a healthier lifestyle. Traditional medicine fascinates me! I can’t wait to learn more & more 🙏🏼
So I truly recommend this book. Take your time to do your research, like I said, there are some words I never heard of before and are a little bit more tricky to understand but overall, an amazing book ❤️

I love this encyclopedia. It’s the best one that I’ve seen and had! I love how it’s broken down into sections. I love that it has recipes in it as well for the plants. I highly recommend this book for anyone that is into herbalism.

I’d love to give this book a 5-star review, but I can’t because of what I consider a major flaw. The herbs are listed in alphabetical order by their scientific name rather than their common name. This means that I have to use the index to find the page an herb is on. Not practical for those of us who don’t think of herbs as their scientific name first.
Other than that major flaw, the book is beautiful and packed with info. It’s worth having in my library but unfortunately isn’t the “go to” I had hoped it would be.

I was a bit tentative about buying this book due to some of the negative reviews. However, I thought I could always return it if it’s falling apart or looked use, but I was worrying over nothing. I was impressed straightaway with the quality. DK are brilliant at producing cost-effective books with high resolution photos and informative text. The author has certainly done his homework, as the information provided on each herb is just right. The book is laid out alphabetically, using Latin names, the index (at the back) will guide you to the remedies and each ailment, along with the herbs more common names. There’s a large section on how to make use of the herbs for tinctures, decoctions, salves, ointment etc. I’ve already collected, dried and started to store a large amount of herbs for the leaner months and this week I’m starting on making a tincture, just got to buy the vodka 😉 The text is clear, the descriptions are concise and easy to understand. Not every herb is photographed, but we have Google and other apps on our phones to help, that would be my only slightly negative comment. I’ve learnt so much in the few days I’ve been reading the book. I would love to see the author and DK maybe condense the book down into a collection of pockets sized books so we can take them out and about with us! This book is a must for any library, book shelf or coffee table if you’re interested in nature, plants and health (or not) as it’s just packed with so much information!
