Firefighter 1 –
Bought to cover outdoor furniture works very well. Seems to be water proof. Definitely get your bang for the buck.

I am using this tarp to see if it can help smother some orange day lilies. These intrusive perennials grew from the planting of a single plant to a lush “jungle” with a complex root system underground that threatened to grow into the yard. Cutting them off does nothing as these perennials’ roots grow horizontally underground until they find daylight. To stop the spread and hopefully plant grass or something else here, I dug out the roots and pulled out the ineffective weed barrier fabric and the covered the area with the tarp.
I am hoping that the tarp’s opacity, UV resistance, puncture resistance and water resistance will help to starve any residual roots of sun and water and keep the plants from puncturing through to kill the plants – without having to resort to herbicide. From what I can see, it looks like this was a good choice for this project. The price and size allowed me to cover the entire area with a single sheet of high gauge material. I am holding it down with rocks, but I like that staples are an option. It is very easy to trim and to fold making it possible for me to customize it to fit this slightly irregular shaped space. I got the silver and black at the black matches the mulch. It is stiff so it tends not to hug the ground like the expensive Coverall ones, but it hugs the ground well with careful installation. So, so far I am thrilled. This seems to be a great value for covering a space to keep rain and UV rays off outside space.

Works fine as a carport cover replacement. Strong!
Jethro Tull –
I just installed it, so I can’t speak to longevity but it’s made at least as well if not better than any of them that I can buy at the local hardware store. That HF company sells I think 12mil, my hardware stores are 8mil, but these are 16mil and very nice and heavy.

Have bought tarps for this in the past that were just not tough enough to handle our wind. This one is nice and thick. Great rivet rings and reflects the heat quite well.
Will buy these again if needed for other projects
Breathing easier in Texas –
The corner grommets seem very strong because they are reinforced, but all the other grommets are weak. One of them is already starting to tear away after one day.
