A good, quality pair of shears will literally save someone’s life and are worth every penny, and should be able to cut through one too. They aren’t a piece of equipment to skimp money on. Buy once, cry once. And knkw you are investing in a company and product that is worth your money.
Pros:
Build quality is superb. I definitely trust my life to these shears. I know if, God forbid I ever have to use these to save a life they are there and ready. They are also a great multi-use item. Open packages, food, MREs, cut through tape, you name it. These things can do it.
Cons:
Some may say price and save a couple bucks by buying something cheaper. But I beg of you, don’t. Cheap shears are not guaranteed to work, like I said. Buy once. Cry once.
This next con is not on the manufacturer but an end user issue. Either put some bright colored tape on the thumb hole or get a lanyard or one of the retractable ID holder. Something. Take it from me, if you set those things on the ground because you need both hands to do work. That’s it. They are gone. Good luck finding them. Especially in low light. Trust me, I’ve replaced too many pair of these to not share this advice lol
Overall:
Great product, worth the money. Buy 2 or 3 of them just in case. Most med kits and trauma kits do not supply shears anymore. So keep that in mind if you have plused up on medical training and are buying your first kit. (Don’t buy a truama kit from amazon go to NAR website and go direct)

I’ve struggled for years trying to find a set of shears that work for, this maybe because il left handed 😂 I’ve spent in the past up to £90 and still unable to a pair that works for me, until NOW!
Thanks

I bought these to go in my IFAC. Hope I never have to use it.

I paid $10.50 for these shears based off the recommendation of another Ems provider. After seeing his North American rescue trauma shears I knew I needed a pair as the cheap ones I had been purchasing weren’t worth the weight. The addition of an O2 key made the price tag more than reasonable. That is until I opened the package and realized these were not NAR trauma shears but a much cheaper pair, no O2 key, and not black.
Edit- 2/17/18
Around a week ago I received a replacement set of shears (Actual NAR shears) and couldn’t be happier with them. The shears themselves get a 5 Star review, waiting 2 weeks to get the correct product brings them down to a 4.
The shears themselves are extremely effective. I’ve already used them on jeans and and they cut through them like butter. The finish appears as though it’ll last. I haven’t used the O2 key yet, but am sure it’ll come in handy in the future.

Legitimately good quality, I was expecting garbage for this price but that are great!

The ones I got were legit. Nice and sturdy. Rubber finger holes. O2 wrench. Solid feeling.

Great for my blow out pouch!

Love these! I work in EMS and they cut like butter! My son even put them to the test and cut into a penny!!! Cut the penny and the trauma shears are good as new! Love the rubber grip in the handles… nice touch! The O2 opener is great too! They only thing I’d suggest… the rigid IV opener area (for stubborn IV lines) on the inner handles of the shears like the hummingbird… that would make them the absolute perfect tool!

I was looking for a good pair of trauma shears for my personal first aid kit, and after some research, i decided on these.
wow, i have never been this impressed with a tool before. they are razor sharp, easy to handle, and pretty inexpensive. the oxygen key is a really nice touch, and it’s also helpful that it is autoclavable.
The blades are curved so that they are always in contact, which allows them to cut through virtually anything. yes, i tried cutting through a penny and these things did so with ease.
although i hope i’ll never have to use them, i know i can count on them if i need them. absolute no brainer for anyone looking for great quality, semi-disposable trauma shears

I bought a couple of brands with this one when I wanted some good trauma shears. Some were so-so. This product is the only one that measured up to the quality of a pair that am EMT left behind when transporting me to the hospital one day (which is how I got introduced to trauma shears in the first place). They will cut through tin cans, heavy leather, they will chop ball point pens in half, open the most tamper resistant electronics packaging. You can amputate fingers (!?!), trim your toenails, cut dimes in half, etc.
