Used this for three days this past weekend, and overall I’m pretty happy with it. It was awesome and easy to fill when I was access to fast moving water, but slow moving water forced me to try and either submerge it or sort of use a scooping motion to get it even halfway filled. There HAS to be a better place for the inlet on a bag like this.
The filtering itself was plenty fast for me (a good excuse to drop pack for ten minutes) and the water tasted great. It was nice to fill up at camp and know you had water on tap for cooking, cleaning, drinking, whatever.
I took a pic of how I rigged it up most of the time. I would loop the leash of my pole through it and back onto the pole to hold it, then attach the other poles leash and lean them against something with a wide stance, made it super quick and easy.
Much better than pumping and is pretty light. Definitely happy with it overall!

I have always used the Katadyn pump filters, but I decided to go with a gravity system to save some time and energy at camp. This was perfect, and for a great price! In one minute and ten seconds I was able to filter a liter of water, so it would only take about 5 minutes to filter a full gallon.
The only downside is trying to fill the reservoir from shallow or standing water. This is where pump filters have the advantage, since all you have to do is throw in the line and start pumping. However, when you consider the low cost and weight savings, this is by far the better choice. I carried a cheap plastic water bottle I purchased from a gas station just before the trip, and filled up that bottle with dirty water and bailed it into the Sawyer reservoir. This worked extremely well, and then I just collapsed the empty bottle and stuffed it into the lid of my pack. Even if you can’t find a place to hang the system, it’s very easy to screw the filter directly onto the bag and squeeze clean water into a drink bottle or bladder system.
Save yourself some money, some ounces, and time by ditching the pump and let gravity do the work! I love my Katadyn, but I think it will collect dust for a long time since the Sawyer has a place in my pack now.
Update 7/27/18: I just used this filter on a 3 night trip for a total of six people. We used the filter at least 3 times per day. During the 2nd day of use the filter slowed down considerably, but it was still easier than pumping. I would suggest back flushing the filter after every gallon when filtering for larger groups.
Also, we used the sea to summit lightweight bucket to get water from a nearby lake, then dumped the water into the Sawyer bladder. This system worked great because we didn’t have to move the gravity filter and the water was easier to retrieve using the bucket.

Used for fresh water while backpacking in Kananaskis. Filtered over 20 litres of water without issues. Water was clear and tasty. I used water sources of various clarity/sediment loads and the filter didn’t slow down. Easy to use and easy to clean. Very light weight.

I already own 2 Sawyer squeeze and they are great little units and of you’re one to hit the outdoors often for days on end, you NEED this.

It is very versatile and can be backwashed for extended use. The lifetime of the filter is 100k gallons. That will outlive me. I just wish the directions of use were better. I had to spend a hour online to really feel comfortable with the many configurations and safe use. I HIGHLY suggest this product.

Worthwhile. Easy to refill and lasts a while. I use them here in Haiti to filter water for community members in the rural mountainsides of the southeast region of the country

We used this during a 3 week hunt trip. This water filter was easy to use and the water tasted fantastic from the creek!

I’ve used this on backcountry trips in Maine and Alaska and love it. Super easy to use, weighs nothing, easy to clean up, and you can get a high volume of water through it without having to do all the work yourself – just let gravity do the work.
